Fire Department

The mission of the City of Thomson Fire Department, Thomson Fire Rescue, is to prevent fires from starting, prevent loss of life and property when fires occur, confine fire to its place of origin, and to extinguish fires. This is accomplished through planning, prevention, investigation, education, incident mitigation, and the appropriate application of the most current firefighting technologies. Our department actively participates in our community to be responsive to the needs of our citizens. Our firefighters provide rapid, professional, humanitarian services essential to the health, safety, and well-being of our community. Thomson Fire Rescue strives to provide a cost effective combination of highly trained and qualified career, part-time, and paid per call/volunteer personnel.

It is essential to the welfare of our department to maintain good public relations with the residents of our City. This goal is considered as one of the highest priorities of this agency and is a personal priority and expectation of the Fire Chief, John A. Thigpen.
